Simple Wedding Card

Today’s card is a Simply Elegant Wedding Card using touches of gold. I needed to create a wedding card for some friends and this is what I came up with.

I used a Very Vanilla card base with layers of Gold Foil Paper (#132622, p.175 AC) and Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum (retired). Next I tied a piece of Gold Satin Ribbon (#134547, p.178 AC) around the card front. Then I cut out the flowers and leaves from Gold Foil Paper using the Botanical Builder Framelits (#140625, p.194 AC). I used a Gold Glimmer Brad (retired) in the center of the flower.

It’s a pretty simple card but all the gold touches really step it up! I so glad you stopped by for a look today, and I hope you get a chance to create something simple and elegant today too!

50th Birthday with Large Number Framelits

IMG_7180Today I am sharing a birthday card that I made for my hubby’s a 50th birthday. I was working with a masculine “black” themed card and I came up with this.

I used a Basic Black card base and added a layer of Going Places Designer Series Paper Stack (retired). Next I layered another piece of Basic Black cardstock which I embossed with Clear Embossing Powder and the Hardwood Background stamp (#133746, p.125 AC). I used a Circle Framelit (#141705, p.193 AC) to cut out the opening in the Black layer. Then I added the numbers that were cut with the Large Number Framelits (#140622, p.193 AC) from Black Glimmer Paper (retired). I added the banner with the sentiment from the coordinating stamp set, Number of Years (#140653, p.136 AC).

IMG_7183The inside of the card has a layer of Very Vanilla cardstock and an additional piece of the Going Places DSP. I used the circle, that I removed from the front of the card, as another layer on the inside (no waste that way). Then I layered a smaller circle on top with the sentiment from an old retired stamp set, Smarty Pants. I love this stamp set for just the right person….and this was one of those times!

I also LOVE the Large Number Framelits for birthday cards! You just can’t beat a personalized card and the numbers make that really simple to do. Don’t forget to use numbers for your next birthday card….it will be a hit! Thanks for looking and have a great day!

PART 2: Technique Tuesday- Collar Fold Cards

Well, I have 3 more cards to share today using the Collar Fold Card technique that I explained yesterday.

IMG_7188This card features the Sprinkles of Life stamp set (#139971, p.106 AC) and the coordinating Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper Stack (retired). I also added the sentiment from the Amazing Birthday stamp set (retired).

IMG_7187This card has a soft and subtle look. I used the Timeless Elegance DSP (retired) and the Timeless Love stamp set (#138772, p.47 AC). I added a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock that was embossed with the Elegant Dots Embossing Folder (#138287, p.195 AC).

IMG_7186This last card features the Sale-a-bration DSP, Wildflower Fields (retired). I stamped the Dots for Days background stamp (retired) on the Calypso Coral card base, and added the embellishment from the Tag Talk stamp set (retired). I used several punches: 2-3/8″ Scallop Circle, 2″ Circle, 1-3/4″ Circle, and the Label Bracket punch. Lots of color and easy to create.

So, there are just a few more ideas for you to get inspired to try your own Collar Fold Cards. I hope you give this one a try. It is simple and also a great way to use that 2-sided DSP! Thanks for looking and Happy Stampin’!

Technique Tuesday- Collar Fold Card

Today’s technique is actually a card idea or template. I have been seeing these Collar Fold Cards all over the internet, and I loved the idea of being able to see both sides of the two-sided designer series paper on the card.

I used a piece of Farmers Market DSP (retired) and the Crazy about You stamp set (#138856, p.70 AC). I also added the sentiment from the retired stamp set, Lovely Amazing You. Finally, I added some leaves from the retired Little Leaves Sizzlits (I LOVE that sizzlit!).

Collar Fold Card:                                                                                                                    Cut the DSP to layer on the card front.                                                                                        Find the center of right side of the DSP.                                                                                        Cut a slit from the right to the left 1-1/2” to 1-3/4” long at that center mark.                  Score diagonally from the end of the slit to each corner.                                                        Fold back along the score lines to create the Collar Fold.                                                   Attach DSP to card front and embellish.

This is such an easy technique and really allows for some great cards with lots of embellishment options. All of the cards that I am posting today use retired Stampin’ Up DSP. I made these cards a few months ago (during my non-posting days), but I still wanted to show the many ideas that I came up with. AND, if you are like me, I bet you still have some of these great DSPs and stamps to use!

IMG_7190This card features the Botanical Builder Framelits (#140625, p.194 AC), the Botanical Gardens DSP (retired), and the Tin of Cards stamp set (#138946, p.86 AC).

IMG_7191This card was CASED from Jackie Bolhuis. I only changed a couple minor things. I used a Pear Pizzazz card base and added a piece of English Garden DSP (retired). I used the Watercolor Wings stamp set (#139424, p.68 AC) and added some Gold Metallic Thread (#138401, p.178 AC).

Well, there are just a few ideas for this fun Collar Fold Card. I will share 3 more ideas in my post tomorrow, so see you back here for those. Thanks for stopping by and see you soon!

Large Letters Framelits: Name Frame

Well, it has been several months since my last blog post, and although I have been stamping and creating all that time, I just have not spent the time to sit down and post any of those creations. SO! I guess it is just about time to get some things posted, so you can see what I have been up to!

This is cute little name frame that I made for a friend, who needed a unique and personal gift for her granddaughter’s baptism. I was excited to break-in my new Large Letters Framelits (#141712, p.193 AC) and this seemed like the perfect opportunity. I love creating personalized gifts, so this was a lot of fun for me. I used several current and retired Stampin’ Up products, and tried to stay within the color scheme that was in her bedroom.

I cut out 3 of each letter and then stacked and glued them together to give each letter a little dimension. I used several framelits and punches to cut out the flowers and leaves: Flower Fair Framelits, Botanical Builder Framelits, May Flower Framelits, Swirly Scribble Thinlits, Flourish Thinlits, Blossom Bunch punch, Triple Flower punch. I added bits of bling and sparkle with Glimmer Brads, Rhinestones, Candy Dots, White Perfect Accents, and Dazzling Diamonds glitter. There are also some non-SU products: dimensional paper flowers from a local stamping store. AND, a couple large flowers from a retired SU Blossom Builder Designer Kit.

It was fun to mix and match elements to come up with a nice collection of items to highlight this cute little name frame. I enjoyed the creative challenge and LOVED the end result. Thanks for stopping by to see what I have been up to. Hopefully, I will get back on track and post some more creations in the coming days!

Wild About Flowers

IMG_7120Today I am sharing a card that I made for a friend of ours and a colleague of  my husband’s. She is retiring, however, she does not like that word. So, this stamp set is perfect to wish her well without making her feel like her journey is over.

I used a Crumb Cake card base and added some speckles from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set (#130514, p.183 AC). I also added some strips of Washi Tape across the front of the card. Then I cut a Whisper White label with the Lots of Labels Framelits (#138281, p.173 AC) and stamped the image and sentiment from the Wild About Flowers stamp set (#138728, p.74 AC). I added a piece of Venetian Crochet Trim (#134581, p.159 AC), some Linen Thread (# 140199, p.159 AC), and a Crushed Curry Button (#130029, p.161 AC). I attached the label to the card with stampin’ dimensionals.  I also stamped the image on the Crumb Cake envelope to match the card. That always makes it even a bit more special to have a matching envelope, I think.

IMG_7122The inside of the card also has a bit of Gorgeous Grunge speckles and the sentiment from the Wild About Flowers stamp set. A fitting card for a dear friend.

Thanks for looking and Happy Stampin’!

Balloon Celebration & Balloon Bouquet Punch- Part 2

Good Morning!  So here is Part 2 of the Balloon Celebration & Balloon Bouquet Punch card samples. I love this bundle not only for birthday cards, but there are some additional images and sentiments in this stamp set that are great for non-birthday type cards too!

This first card was inspired by Kristal Bell.  I love how she combined the Shine On DSP (#140579, p.31 OC) with this bundle. The shiny background paper really adds a lot of great interest to this card. I used a Bermuda Bay card base under the layer of Shine On DSP. Then I punched out 2 balloons from the Shine On DSP  from the Bermuda Bay color side and sponged a little Bermuda Bay ink around the edges. Then I stamped the 3rd balloon on a piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock and punched it out with the smaller balloon in the punch. I attached a piece of Linen Thread (#104199, p.159 AC) to each balloon with a mini glue dot, then tied a bow with Bermuda Bay 1/8″ Stitched Ribbon (#140569, p.35 OC), and attached it to the card with a mini glue dot over the Linen Thread. Finally, I used a Black marker to ink up the “celebrate” from the Balloon Celebration stamp set. I cut a small banner and stamped the word. I attached that to finish off the card.

This card was CASED from Cynthia van der Wilk.  I loved her idea of cutting out the “happy” from the punched balloons on the card. I really loved her selection of DSP on her card too. I am not as excited about my color combination, but wanted to use new products and make more of a masculine card. I guess it fits that, but for some reason this is not my favorite card. I think if I made this card again, I would use brighter colors that really popped on the card. I used a Very Vanilla card base, a layer of Delightful Dijon cardstock (which was embossed with the Softly Falling Embossing Folder (#139672, p.9 OC)), and balloons punched from the Going Places DSP (#140581, p.39 OC).  I attached the balloons to the Delightful Dijon layer with a 2-way Glue Pen, and stamped the balloon strings from the Balloon Celebrations stamp set.  Then I used the Hello You Thinlits (#137363, p.172 AC) to cut out the “happy” and made sure to save all the extra pieces to add back to the card after I attached it to the card base. Finally, I stamped the sentiment on a banner and attached it to the card.

The last card was inspired by Krista Frattin. It is one of my favorites!! I love the creation of the dandelion using the little images from the Balloon Celebration Stamp set. I think this makes a very nice card and also makes this set even more versatile beyond just birthday.  I used a Smokey Slate card base and added a layer of Botanical Gardens Designer Vellum Stack (#141019, p.4 SAB- no longer available). I tied some Bermuda Bay 1/8″ Stitched Ribbon (#140569, p.35 OC) around the card front. Then I stamped the images from the Balloon Celebrations stamp set in Smoky Slate ink onto a layer of Whisper White cardstock, and attached it to the card with stampin’ dimensionals. Finally, I added the sentiment from the Happy Home stamp set (#140500, p.21 OC) in black ink. LOVE IT!

I hope you are excited about making some of your own creations with this bundle of products. Thanks for stopping by and Happy Stampin’!
