Balloon Celebration & Balloon Bouquet Punch- Part 1

Well, one more great bundle to share with you today from the Stampin’ Up Occasions Catalog. The Balloon Celebration & Balloon Bouquet Punch (#140810, p.13 OC) are bundled for a 15% savings, so you can’t beat that! Also, you will definitely want the punch with this stamp set. They really compliment each other so well!

IMG_7168This card was CASED from Danny Hikade. The soft colors really caught my eye and that was my inspiration. I used a Whisper White card base and a layer of Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper Stack (# 138443, p.144 AC). I added a Whisper White piece cut with the Lots of Labels Framelits (#138281, p.173 AC), and attached to the card with stampin’ dimensionals. I stamped the balloons in Pool Party, Pink Pirrouette, So Saffron, and Pear Pizzazz ink colors. I punched the balloons out with the coordinating Balloon Bouquet Punch and attached them to the with stampin’ dimensionals. I stamped the strings and the sentiment on the White layer.

IMG_7165This card was CASED from a card that I saw on Pinterest. I’m not sure who the original artist is, however it was posted on PTI Make It Monday blog.  It is such a simple card and that is why I love it!  The White on White really makes it look great and gives a faux embossed look. I used a Whisper White card base and Whisper White balloons punched with the Balloon Bouquet Punch. I attached them to the card with my 2-way glue pen and trimmed off the excess around the edges of the card. Then I stamped the balloon from the Balloon Celebration stamp set in Real Red ink, punched it out,and added it to the card with stampin’ dimensionals. I gave the balloon a little shading by inking up the stamp, stamping off on a piece of scratch paper, then added a bit more ink to the one side of the balloon with a sponge dauber. This really created a nice shading and a little softer look to the balloon. I added some black hemp twine (non-SU) to the balloon, and the banner from the Number of Years stamp set and Large Numbers Framelits (#140811, p.10 OC). The “happy birthday” is from the Something to Say stamp set (#134177, p.108 AC).

IMG_7167This last card was CASED from Rachael Lewsley.  I really liked her colorful card and it really did look so “Happy”. I used a Whisper White card base and just stamped several balloons from the Balloon Celebration stamp set all over to create a nice colorful background. She used the Balloon Builder stamp set for her card and that made the balloons have a softer look, so I just stamped off the ink a bit on some scratch paper to soften the look of my balloons a little. I think it turned out pretty well compared to the original. I used Melon Mambo, Mint Macaron, Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Wisteria Wonder, Cucumber Crush for my ink colors. I added the Silver Glimmer Paper (#135314, p.149 AC) “happy” which I cut with the Hello You Thinlits (#137363, p.172 AC), and a Melon Mambo banner with the “BIRTHDAY” from the Crazy About You stamp set (#138856, p.106 AC) embossed with White Embossing Powder.

Those are just a few samples using this great bundle, but come back tomorrow for the second half of the cards I made with this Balloon Celebration stamp set and Balloon Bouquet Punch. Happy Stampin’!

Going Places Suite

The Stampin’ Up Spring Occasions catalog has some wonderful suites of products and this is one of them: Going Places Suite. This suite of products includes the Going Global stamp set (#140745, p.39 OC), the World Traveler Embossing Folder (#138289, p.39 OC), and the Going Places Designer Series Paper Stack (#140581, p.39 OC).IMG_7158This card was CASED from the Stampin’ Up Occasions Catalog. I wanted to create the wonderful background using the World Traveler Embossing Folder and the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush (#141897, p.24 OC). I used a Lost Lagoon card base and cardstock layer. I embossed the layer and then added the Wink Of Stella Glitter to the recessed areas of the embossed layer. I still felt like I didn’t quite achieve the look I was going for, so I inked up my World Traveler Embossing Folder with Lost Lagoon ink and ran it through the Big Shot a second time (making sure to line up the cardstock within the folder in the same spot as the first time). This just seemed to even out the glitter from the Wink of Stella and give the embossed piece the look I was trying to get. It was a little bit of messing around, but I loved the look, in the end. Then I added the stamped images from the Going Global stamp set (#140745, p.39 OC). I stamped these on Pool Party cardstock and the Going Places DSP.

IMG_7159This is a simple card, but has a very nice masculine feel. I used a Very Vanilla card base and layer. I embossed the layer with the World Traveler Embossing Folder (#138289, p.39 OC). I added some strips of DSP from the Going Places Designer Series Paper Stack          (# 140581, p.39 OC). I stamped the compass image from the Going Global stamp set (#140745, p.39 OC) and punched it out with the 2″ Circle Punch (#133782, p.165 AC). I used the Sale-a-bration stamp set, Perfect Pairings (#141258, p.11 SAB-no longer available) for the sentiment on this card.

IMG_7161This card was CASED from Karen Page. I liked the the cut out stars with the sentiment from the Going Global stamp set. I used a Whisper White card base and a layer of DSP from the Going Places DSP (#140581, p.39 OC). I added a smaller layer of Whisper White and added paper piercing around the edges. I used the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set (#130514, p.123 AC) to add the speckles of ink to the Whisper White layer. Then I cut out the stars from Delightful Dijon cardstock and Going Places DSP with the Stars Framelits (#133723, p.173 AC).  I added more paper piercing around the Delightful Dijon star and then added the sentiment on a 1″ Circle. The stars are attached to the card with stampin’ dimensionals and there is a bit of Gold Metallic Thread (#138401, p.159 AC) underneath.

IMG_7157This card is CASED from Linda van Wely. I wanted to make a card fitting for Valentine’s Day and this just looked perfect for that! I used a Smoky Slate card base and layers of Red Glimmer paper  (#121790, 149 AC) and Going Places DSP.  I added some speckles in the background using the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set (#130514, p.123 AC). I added the 3 circles punched with the 2″ Circle Punch(#133782, p.165 AC) and stamped with the images from the Going Global stamp set. I added a Red Glimmer Paper heart to the sentiment to coordinate with the Red Glimmer layer. I punched that out using the Owl Builder Punch (#118074, p.167 AC).

IMG_7156This card has a nice collage looking background. I CASED this card from Kate Benade. I used a Delightful Dijon card base, a Basic Black layer, and a Sahara Sand layer. I stamped the images and sentiments on the Sahara Sand layer BEFORE I embossed it. Then, I embossed the Sahara Sand layer with the World Traveler Embossing Folder. I used a sponge with some White ink to highlight the raised areas, and some Crumb Cake ink and a sponge to add some shadows to the recessed areas. Then I added some banners of Going Places DSP, and a circle stamped with the globe from the Going Global stamp set. Finally, I added one more banner with the sentiment and a piece of Mint Macaron/Black Baker’s Twine (#140555, p.6 OC).

I do love this suite of products for card making for the men in my life. It is the perfect combination of stamp set, DSP, and embossing folder. Thanks for looking and Happy Stampin’!

Happy Home and Hearth & Home Thinlits

The Happy Home stamp set and Hearth & Home Thinlits (#140806, p.21 OC) are a great bundle of products from Stampin’ Up this Spring. I have a few card samples to share today using this bundle, as well as the stamp set on its own.

IMG_7154This card was CASED from Amy Koenders. I really didn’t alter it too much from her card, however there are a few subtle changes. I used a Blushing Bride card base, and a layer of Whisper White. I added some DSP from the Love Blossoms Designer Series Paper Stack (#140548, p.17 OC). I really loved the soft colors of these papers with the Happy Home stamp set.  I stamped the images with Archival Black ink onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock and then used a sponge dauber to add the soft color to the image. I really liked this look rather than just using markers. It made it much softer in appearance. I did use my Blushing Bride marker to color the flowers and highlight some of the flowers in the tree also. Next, I added the window cut-out from the Hearth & Home Thinlits, and a flower punched out with the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack (#133787, p.166 AC) and embellished with a White Perfect Accent (#138416, p.161 AC).

IMG_7155This card was CASED from Mikaela Titheridge. I loved the idea of using the 1″ Dotted Lace Trim for a curtain in the window!! So cute!  I used a Tip Top Taupe card base and embossed with the Brick Wall Embossing Folder (#138288, p.174 AC). I added a piece of Basic Black cardstock and the Watermelon Wonder Dotted Lace Trim (#138425, p.159 AC). Then I added the window from the Hearth & Home Thinlits, the window box from the Happy Home stamp set and cut with the thinlits, and several flowers and leaves. The leaves were punched with the Bird Builder Punch (#117191, p.167 AC) and the flowers were punched with the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack (#133787, p.166 AC). I added little black circles from the Cupcake Builder Punch (#121807, p.167 AC) and pearls to the centers of the flowers.

IMG_7151This card was also CASED from Amy Koenders.  I liked the idea of using the stamp set without the thinlits to add some more versatility to this set. I also liked the watercolored look of her card, so this is what I came up with…I used a Soft Sky card base and layers of Basic Black and Whisper White. I stamped the image from the Happy Home stamp set with Archival Black ink onto a piece of Watercolor paper and cut it out with the Circle Collection Framelits (#130911, p.173 AC). I used an Aquapainter and some ink to watercolor the image. I added the circle to the card with stampin’ dimensionals and stamped the sentiment from the Happy Home stamp set.

IMG_7153This is one more card that I made without the thinlits. I started with a Basic Black card base, added a layer of Wildflower Fields DSP (#141022, p.12 SAB- no longer available), and layers of Sahara Sand, Basic Black, and Whisper White cardstocks. I stamped the image and sentiment from the Happy Home stamp set in Archival Black ink and added just a bit of Sahara Sand marker under the clouds and grass to add some dimension. Quick and Easy card!

Thanks for stopping by for a look today. I hope you are inspired to do some stamping. See you soon!

Gift Bag Punch Board Card Box

IMG_7003This is another fun gift giving idea that I made with the Gift Bag Punch Board (#135862, p.150 AC) which is on sale this week for $15! I got this great idea and the instructions to make it from Valerie Moody. She has a wonderful video tutorial on making the lidded gift box that is just perfect for cards!! I just love it.IMG_7004I used the new Whisper White Thick Cardstock (#140272, p.149 AC), so that it would be a little more sturdy. I do love this cardstock, not only for bags and boxes, but for a little heavier weight card base too.  I used the Endless Thanks stamp set (#138796, p.14 AC) for the flower images and the sentiment. I used the Dots for Days background stamp (#138950, p.129 AC) for the dots on the lid. Then I added the flower embellishment which was punched out with the Fun Flower, Pansy, Petite Petals punches, and Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack (#133785, #130698, #133322, 133787, p.167-166 AC).  The lid is wrapped in White Baker’s Twine (#124262, p.158 AC) and the flowers have White Perfect Accents (#138416, p.161 AC) in the centers.IMG_7005You can fit several cards and envelopes in this box, so it makes for a great gift idea. I love giving cards to friends and family as gifts. Not only do they love it, but it also encourages them to SEND A CARD, not just an email or text to someone they would like to send good wishes to. Technology is great….but even better is a good ole’ fashion handmade card!

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you SEND someone you love a handmade card very soon! Happy Stampin’!

I found a great video tutorial from Valerie Moody. She has some wonderful ideas for the Gift Bag Punch Board, and I was so excited to see all the wonderful things you could do with it. Thanks, Valerie!!

Simple Baby Cards

IMG_7069Today I wanted to share a couple simple baby cards. I needed to make some cards for a couple new arrivals, and so here is what I came up with. I was inspired by a card by Teneale Williams. The color scheme really caught my eye and I loved the simplicity of it too. I used the same products on both of these cards, but just changed the color schemes to be gender specific.

Little boy card: Daffodil Delight, Whisper White, Night of Navy                                                 Little girl card: Pink Pirouette, Whisper White, Melon Mambo

I used the Brights and Subtles Color Collections Designer Series Paper  (#138434/#138437, p.144 AC) for the DSP on the cards. I cut the circle layer with the Circles Collection Framelits (#130911, p.173 AC). I used the Something for Baby stamp set  & Baby’s First Framelits Dies bundle (#136790, p.38 AC) to stamp and cut out the onesies and embellishments. I cut a banner for each card and attached candy dots to the pink card.

Quick and Easy! Thanks, Teneale, for the inspiration. I hope you are inspired to do some stampin’ today too.  See you soon!
